Skip Goddard

[Therapist]

My name is Skip Goddard, psychotherapist with Access Behavioral Health Services. Working with individuals is a passion of mine, in which I first began cultivating while working as a Psychosocial Rehabilitation Specialist for many years after receiving a Bachelor of Science from Boise State University. I've since earned a Master of the Arts in Trans personal Counseling Psychology at Naropa University in Boulder Colorado. I've been lucky enough to gain experience in working with a very eclectic and diverse clientele. I've effectively worked with combat veterans suffering from PTSD, victims of domestic violence, individuals suffering from life transition issues and bereavement, gender and sexuality issues, children on the autism spectrum including Asperger's, troubled youth and adolescents, spiritual emergency, various clinic diagnoses including Bipolar I and II, Schizophrenia, Schizo affective Disorder, Major Depression, Borderline Personality, psychosis, relationship problems, addictions, and family struggles. I've found that by focusing on the individual in the moment with unconditional positive regard without judgement can lead to development of an extremely beneficial therapeutic relationship. And so, I primarily use Person Centered Therapy in conjunction with integrated concepts of Trans personal Psychology which is the most contemporary form of psychology based in the study of consciousness and experience integrating the various schools of psychology with Eastern Wisdom traditions and Buddhist Psychology and Mindfulness based practices. Thus my prime therapeutic modalities are Gestalt Psychotherapy, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Jungian Dream work, and Vipassana (insight) meditation. I currently live in Boise with my wife and three children and enjoy outdoor activities; snowboarding, backpacking, mountain biking and spending time with family and friends.
